UX Research
Research Questions
The client in this case already had an established customer base to work with. Research participants were easy since we were able to release a beta app to users and gain feedback on user flow as well as UI elements.
Hypothesis: Audio lovers will be willing to not only consume but also engage in musical sharing with commercial and underground music.
R1: How do users find and engage with new underground or unsigned musicians?
R2: What type of incentive draws the user to a digital music platform?
R3: What trends can be seen in music changes from seeing users social media interactions?
Wire frames, Prototypes, Information Architecture
Working closely with the developers and owners, and armed with the research results we were ready to translate the data into the visual form. This also helped to define the overall strategy required for the informational architecture a card sorting session was also very helpful to understand the way consumers prioritized needs. I created the initial sketches and wireframes in Axure and created high-level prototypes to help test interactivity and overall user experience
The initial interactions for the application needed to keep a clean and swift movement. Having the ability to run a 3-month beta cycle helped to gain additional feedback on the interface and final features for initial version 1.0 launch.
